Kutateladze Samson ( 1914–1986), Scientist, expert in thermo-physics, hydrodynamics and energy, Member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1979). He was born in Petrograd; graduated from the College of Thermophysics in Leningrad (1932) and the Leningrad Industrial Institute (1936). In 1932-1958 he worked at the Boilerturbine Central Institute; as of 1958 – at the Siberian division of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. He was one of the founders of the Institute of Thermal Physics (from 1964 – Director). S. Kutateladze was the author of the works on the theories of thermal transmission, turbulent marginal layer and hydrodynamics of fluid gas systems. In 1976 he became the laureate of the State Prize named after I. Polzunov; in 1983 – the laureate of the State Prize of the USSR.
S. Kutateladze died in Moscow. He was buried in Novosibirsk where he used to live. The Institute of Thermal Physics of Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences bears S. Kutateladze’s name.
