Amilakhvari Ivane (b. January 26, 1829, Kvemo Chala, Kaspi Municipality – d. August 29, 1905, Tbilisi) was a general of the cavalry of the Russian army (1896).
From 1850, he served in the Nizhegorodskiy Dragoon Regiment in the North Caucasus. From 1853, he fought against Shamil. During the Crimean War (1853–1856), he participated in the battles of Bayandur, Başgedikler and Kars on the Caucasian front against the Ottomans. In 1873, he received the rank of major general.
Amilakhvari especially distinguished himself in the Russian-Ottoman war (1877–1878). In 1883, he received the rank of lieutenant general, and in 1901 – the honorary rank of adjutant general. In 1893–1897, he was the commander of the Caucasus Army Corps. He has published diaries and memoirs (journal “Кавказский сборник”, 1908–1909, т. 26-29. Authorized translation from Georgian), which contain interesting information about the era and the battles in which Amilakhvari took part. It includes a lot of significant material about Amilakhvari's comrades-in-arms — Grigol Zakaria, Ilia Orbeliani, K. Mamatsashvili, Malakia Gurieli, as well as Shamil and others.
He was awarded a Gold Sword for Bravery and many military orders and medals.
