Asatiani Liana

Liana Asatiani (20 December 1926, Tbilisi–8 July 2014, Tbilisi) was a Georgian actress and People's Artist of Georgia (1961).

She graduated from the Tbilisi State Medical Institute in 1949. Her debut role was in M. Chiaureli’s film "Giorgi Saakadze" (1942–43) as Queen Tekle. She has played roles in various films: Tsiala (Chirveuli Mezoblebi, director N. Managadze, 1945), Kama (Gazafculi Sakenshi, director N. Sanishvili, 1950), Aleksandra Japaridze (Mtsvervalta Dambkrobni, director D. Rondeli, 1952), Marine Peradze (Chrichina, directors S. Dolidze, L. Khotivari, 1954), Ketevan (Tetri Simgera, director S. Dolidze, 1956), Queen Gurandukht (Matsi Khvitia, director G. Shengelaia, 1961), Gurandukht (Didostatis Marjvena, directors V. Tabliashvili, D. Abashidze, 1969), Sefora ("War is War for Everyone," director D. Abashidze, 1990), Mother (Cheri anu daumtavrebeli filmis masala director R. Esadze, 2003), and others.

In 2010, a star dedicated to Liana Asatiani was unveiled in front of the Rustaveli Cinema in Tbilisi.
