Blake Robert

Blake Robert Pierpont (October 1, 1886 – May 9, 1950) was an American orientalist and scholar of Kartvelian Studies. He was a professor at Harvard University and a student of N. Marr.

From 1918 to 1920, he taught Greek language and Byzantine history at Tbilisi State University. Blake discovered and scientifically described many Georgian manuscripts preserved in Palestine and Mount Athos, including an extensive edition of "Balavariani."

He published Georgian biblical and hagiographical texts along with their Latin translations. He also made significant contributions to Biblical studies and patrology.
