Igor Bogomolov (b. July 17, 1932, Tbilisi – d. January 27, 2003, Tbilisi) was a literary critic, Doctor of Philological Sciences (1968), Professor (1977), member of the Main Scientific Board of the Georgian Encyclopedia, Member of Parliament (1995‒1999).
He graduated from the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the Faculty of Philology at the Tbilisi State University (TSU) (1956). From 1959, he worked at the Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature, from 1977, he was the head of the Literary Relations Department of the Center for the Study of Interethnic Relations of the Georgian Academy of Sciences, from 1993 – the head of the Department of History of Russian Literature at TSU. He was the president of the Russian Cultural and Educational Society of Georgia (1992).
He studied the relationship between Georgian literature and the literature of the peoples of the former USSR, especially Russian literature. The relationship of Russian writers with Georgia, as well as the relationship of Georgian writers with Russian reality is studied in Bogomolov's books and monographs: [From the History of Russian-Georgian Literary Relations (I. He also worked as a translator.
