Bochoridze Giorgi

Giorgi Bochoridze (born August 20, 1884, in the village of Natsikhari, now in the Akhmeta Municipality – died in 1939) was a historian.

He studied at the Tbilisi Seminary, from which he was expelled in 1905 for participating in revolutionary activities. In 1922, he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at Tbilisi State University (TSU). In 1921, still a student, he began working at the Central Archive of Georgia, later becoming a senior scientific associate in the Manuscripts Department of the Georgian Museum. From 1923 to 1926, he gathered a rich collection of historical artifacts and archival materials from different regions of Georgia, which he donated to the archives of Tbilisi and Kutaisi, including many manuscripts. Notably, he discovered the epigraphic monument from Jvarisi (Racha) and the Tabori Four Gospel Book (11th century).

Bochoridze published several works on archaeological geography, including "Ori Piqal-Tserili" (in the “Saistorio Moambe”  1925, Vol. I) and "Purtselaanteluri Qronika" (Id.).
