Brière Maurice (1st September 1881–11th March 1960) was a French orientalist and Kartvelologist. He was a mathematician by education.
He studied the Georgian language in Paris at the National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations, where he attended N. Marr's lectures from 1926 to 1928. Along with N. Marr, he published a Georgian language manual in French (Paris, 1931).
In 1936, Brière visited Tbilisi. He published several Old Georgian texts, including "From the Collection of Shatberdi" (1954). After the death of R. Blake, Brière continued working on the publication of the Old Testament in Georgian, focusing on the books of the prophets (Paris, 1961). For 25 years, he taught the Georgian language at the Catholic Institute of Paris, within the School of Oriental Studies.
