Breitenbauch Georg
Georg August von Breitenbauch was a German scholar of the second half of the 18th century, councilor of the Duchy of Saxe-Weimar, member of the Frankfurt, Erfurt and Roman-Arcadian Society of Scholars.
In 1788, his book History of the Georgian Principalities was published in Memmingen. The history of Georgia before the collapse of the unified state is studied in separate chapters of the book. The genealogy of the Bagrationi dynasty is also attached. Breitenbauch used the works of ancient historians. It seems that he also had access to unpublished materials of that time. Despite a number of errors, the work is of great importance for clarifying a number of issues of Georgian history.
