Gritsik Ludmila

Ludmila Gritsik (b. March 19, 1946, Andrushivka, Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian Kartvelologist, literary critic, translator, Doctor of Philological Sciences (1992), professor (1993).

In 1969, she graduated from the Faculty of Philology at the National University of Kyiv. She studied Georgian language and literature at the Tbilisi State University (TSU) in 1967–1969. In 1973, she completed postgraduate studies and received the degree of Candidate of Philological Sciences, and then the degree of Doctor of Philology in the field of Georgian-Ukrainian literary relations.

At various times, Gritsik headed the Department of Oriental Studies at the National University of Kyiv and the Department of Comparative Studies at the Institute of Ukrainian Studies, where special attention was paid to the study of the Georgian language and literature and the study of Georgian-Ukrainian literary relations. She taught a course on the history of Georgian literature at the National University of Kyiv, published works on Georgian literature and Ukrainian-Georgian literary relations.

She translated works of Georgian writers into Ukrainian. She is the author of the following works: The Works of Grigol Abashidze (1975), Nodar Dumbadze and His Characters (1977), Irakli Abashidze (1979), Nodar Dumbadze's Prose (1983), etc. She translated G. Panjikidze's The Seventh Sky (1972), L. Mrelashvili's Ikalto Boys (1975), N. Tsuleiskiri's Tutarchela (1977), the folk tale The Daughter of the Sun (1977) and etc.
