B. Gugushvili

Besarion Gugushvili (b. May 6, 1945, Tbilisi) was the Prime Minister of the Republic of Georgia (appointed 1991), candidate of Economic Sciences (1971). In 1962–1963, he studied at the Faculty of Economics of Tbilisi State University, in 1966–1967 – at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, specializing in the history of Turkey, in 1967–1970 – at the Tbilisi Institute of Foreign Languages, in 1973 he became the head of the Department of the Scientific Information Center of the Georgian Academy of Sciences, afterwards – the deputy director. He is the author of several scientific works. In January 1992, after the end of the Tbilisi War, he accompanied President Z. Gamsakhurdia to Chechnya. Since 1994, he has been in emigration.
