G. Dumézil

Georges Dumézil (b. March 4, 1898, Paris – d. October 11, 1986, Paris) was a French linguist, Caucasologist, religious studies scholar specialized in comparative linguistics and mythology, Doctor of Sciences (1924), professor at the Istanbul and Uppsala universities (1931–1933).

In 1935, he started working at various higher education institutions in Paris. He is the author of the monographs: Études comparatives sur les langues caucasiennes du nord-ouest (1932), Recherches comparatives sur le verbe caucasien (1933), Ubykh Verb (1975).

Dumézil's research on the Abkhazian, Adyghe and Ubykh languages ​​is well known. He also studied the Caucasian Albanians.
