Egnatashvili Simon

Simon Egnatashvili (Ignatiev) was a scribe, translator, representatives of the Georgian colony in Moscow and St. Petersburg in the second half of the 18^th century. He studied at the Moscow University. As a translator, he was a member of Russian-Georgian diplomatic missions. In 1773, his translation of Baramgulandamiani from Georgian into Russian was published in St. Petersburg. This is a free translation, in which the text is expanded with oral or folk literature. He also translated The Song of the Blind Musician (a stylized folk poem dedicated to Catherine II), and compiled a Georgian-Russian dictionary, which has not been preserved.
