Gurgenidze, Vladimir (born December 7, 1970, Tbilisi) served as the Prime Minister of Georgia from 2007 to 2008. From 1987 to 1990, he studied at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, and in 1990–1991 at Middlebury College (USA). In 1993, he earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Emory University's Business School (USA).
From 1997 to 2003, he held leading positions at ABN AMRO Bank. In 2003–2004, he served as Head of European Operations at Putnam Lovell Bank. In 2004, Gurgenidze returned to Georgia and became the head of the Bank of Georgia.
From 2004 to 2007, he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the joint-stock company "Galt & Taggart Securities," which he himself had founded in 2000. From 2004 to 2007, he was also a member of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Stock Exchange.
Since 2009, he has served as Chairman of the Center for Alternative Investments at Emory University.
In September 2009, he was appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Bank of Kigali (Rwanda).
Also in September 2009, together with a Romanian business partner, he founded the investment company "Liberty Investments."
He has been awarded the Order of St. George for Victory (2008) and the Presidential Order of Excellence (2010).
