Evagrius Scholasticus (b. 535 or 536 Hama, Syria – d. the end of the 6th century, Antioch) was a Byzantine historian, theologian, scholar. His main work is Ecclesiastical History, which includes notable accounts of the life and work of Peter the Iberian from 431 to 593, the spread of Christianity in Abkhazia, and the uprising of Armenians and Georgians against the Persians in 572.
