Evangelical Church in Georgia

Evangelical church is a common name for Protestant, mainly Lutheran, churches. The Evangelical church in Georgia was founded in 1914 by the missionary David Urshan, who came from Asia Minor. In 1999, it was established again by Pastor Z. Tkeshelashvili. The Evangelical church recognizes the main foundations of faith: the Holy Trinity and the divinity of Christ. The sacraments of birth, baptism, Eucharist, marriage, ordination and anointing, are performed there. In general, the Evangelical church recognizes two forms of baptism: baptism with water and baptism with the Holy Spirit. The Evangelical church in Georgia has approximately 150 followers (2008).
