A. Innocenzi

Abdon Innocenzi (b. 1856, Rome – d. November 3, 1935, Tbilisi), an Italian dancer, ballet master and teacher working in Tbilisi. He was a graduate of the Milan Ballet School.

In 1882–1884, he pursued his career as a dancer in Italy at the Turin and Rome theatres, and at La Scala in Milan. In 1884–1887, he worked at the City Theatre in Kyiv, simultaneously opening a ballet studio. In 1887, he was invited to Tbilisi. Until 1894, he worked as the chief ballet master at the Tbilisi Treasury Theatre. In 1888–1920, he taught ballroom dances, which were newly introduced and very popular in Tbilisi at that time, in almost all educational institutions – the Cadet Corps, the St. Nino Nobleman's School, as well as in women's and mens' gymnasiums. In 1891, a benefit performance was held at the Treasury Theatre by Innocenzi and his wife, M. Perini — dancer, teacher and ballet master. In 1895, they established the “Ballet and Ballroom Dance Studio”, which existed until 1930. He was a teacher until the end of his life.
