Tengiz K. Amirejibi (Gizi) (September 30, 1927, Tbilisi – March 9, 2013, Tbilisi), was a pianist, a teacher and People's Artist of Georgia (1982).
He graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 1950 (classes of K. Igumnov and L. Oborin), and in 1953 he became a Candidate of Science at Tbilisi Conservatoire (supervisor A. Tulashvili). He began teaching in Tbilisi at V. Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire in 1952 (from 1972, he was the head of the Fortepiano Department and from 1977, he was a professor). His students were winners of international competitions - M. Doijashvili, E. Bolkvadze, and A. Korsantia. He did numerous concert performances during his student years. His mastery was characterized by artistic flair and virtuosity. Amirejibi performed Chopin's compositions with exceptional authenticity. He promoted Georgian music (he was the first performer of S. Nasidze's I and II Piano Concertos). A Russian firm "Melody" released a gramophone record of his performances (works by F. Chopin and S. Prokofiev). He was awarded the Georgian State Prize (1992).
