Nodar Andghuladze (b. December 13,1927, Tbilisi – d. January 28, 2013, Tbilisi) was a singer (dramatic tenor), People's Artist of Georgia (1965).
In 1950, he graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Tbilisi State University (TSU), in 1963 — from the V. Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire. From 1956, he was a soloist of the Z. Paliashvili Opera and Ballet Theatre and at the same time (1953–1959) — a teacher of the Department of Caucasian Languages at TSU. He researched issues of comparative grammar of Iberian-Caucasian languages (under the guidance of A. Chikobava). In 1961–1962, he was sent as an intern to La Scala, the opera house in Milan (pedagogue G. Barra).
Andghuladze had a very strong, beautiful voice that was equally resonant and expressive in all registers. Some of his most memorable performances include: Abesalom, Malkhazi (Z. Paliashvili's Abesalom and Eteri, Daisi), Tarieli (Sh. Mshvelidze's The Tale of Tariel), Mindia, Arzakan (O. Taktakishvili's Mindia, The Abduction of the Moon), Herman (P. Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades), Radamès, Manrico, Duke, Othello (G. Verdi's Aida, The Troubadour, Rigoletto, Otello), Edgardo (G. Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor), Canio (R. Leoncavallo's Pagliacci), Turiddu (P. Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana), Lohengrin (R. Wagner's Lohengrin), Herodes (R. Strauss' Salome) and others. Andghuladze was also a chamber singer and performed the works of Georgian composers with great skill. He toured in many countries. In 1983, Donizetti's opera Lucia di Lammermoor was performed on the stage of the Kutaisi Opera House.
Andghuladze was a teacher at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire from 1968 and the head of the Department of Solo Singing from 1981. His disciples were: N. Gamgebeli T. Gugushvili, G. Kariauli, G. Lomtadze, M. Namoradze, N. Nachkepia, T. Chachava, A. Churgulia and others.
Andghuladze was the author of studies in the field of theory, history and methodology of vocal art. He was awarded the Z. Paliashvili Prize in 1977 and received state awards.
