Akhalsopeli Treasure is a unique collection consisting of 55 Colchian Tetri coins. It was discovered in 1913 in Akhalsopeli village (Zugdidi municipality). The treasure contained only Colchian Tetri with various faces and denominations (didrachma, type I, and II half-drachmas), which is especially important for studying and dating the genesis of Colchian Tetri. Akhalsopeli treasure also contains a new type of half-drachma (mass 2,21-2,61 grams) that depicts a lion's face in side view on the obverse, while the reverse shows a side view of a lioness.
