Agha Mohammad Khan (1742—1797) was the ruler of Iran from 1794, and Shah — from 1796. He was the founder of the Qajar dynasty. Agha Mohammad Khan was young when he was captured and castrated by Ali-qoli Khan (commonly known as Adel Shah), the son of Nader Shah. In 1795, he marched on Azerbaijan and Georgia, raided Tbilisi (see Battle of Krtsanisi, 1795), and after returning from Georgia and receiving the title of Shah of Iran (1796), he conquered Khorasan. In 1797, during the second campaign in the South Caucasus, Agha Mohammad Khan was killed by his servants in Shusha (Azerbaijan).
