Bakhmaro

Bakhmaro is a high-altitude climatic resort located in the Chokhatauri Municipality in the expansive valley of the Bakhvistsqali River. It is situated on the elevation of 1920–2050 meters above sea level. It is 55 km from Chokhatauri and 365 km from Tbilisi. Due to its proximity to the sea, Bakhmaro’s mountain climate is notably influenced by the sea. Winters are snowy and moderately mild (average temperature in January: -5.5°C), with snow cover sometimes reaching 4–5 meters and lasting for about six months.

The summer is short, moderately cool (average temperature in August: 13.4°C) and moderately dry. The annual precipitation totals 1600 mm. The duration of sunshine is 2050–2200 hours annually. The relative humidity is 73%.

Bakhmaro is recommended for the treatment of respiratory diseases (especially among children), various forms of tuberculosis (lung, bone, and joint), anemia, and neurasthenia.
