Bühl Paul

Paul Bühl (b. 1878, Asureti, Tetritskaro Municipality – d. April 20, 1938, Tbilisi) was a Social Democrat, member of the Constituent Assembly of Georgia (1919), a teacher.

Bühl received education at the Specialized German School of Bessarabia. He taught in the German settlements in Georgia. He was involved in party work. He played an important role in the relations between the government of the Democratic Republic and the German population of Georgia.

In 1921, he fought against the Red Army. After the occupation of Georgia by Soviet Russia, he remained in Georgia and took part in the anti-Soviet movement.

In 1938, he was arrested and sentenced to death by the so-called “Troika”.

His family was deported from Georgia in the 1940s.
