Since 1973, he has systematically organized expeditions to the northeastern part of Turkey — to measure and photograph the architectural monuments of the historical Tao-Klarjeti region. He has compiled texts, graphic and photographic materials on the monuments of Christian architecture.

In 1989, at the session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, he read a report on the condition of these monuments as an expert. In 1983 and 1989, he participated in the 4th and 6th International Symposiums on Georgian Art (Tbilisi). At the latter, he read a report “The Condition of Christian Monuments in Turkey”. Bruchhaus is one of the initiators and organizers of the collection on microfiche of Georgian architectural monuments (in 8 volumes), which presents about 2000 monuments (description, measurements, detailed photo fixation). The publication was prepared by the G. Chubinashvili National Research Centre for Georgian Art History and Heritage Preservation and the Aachen Technical University. It was published in 1994–2010.
